Casper Mountain has a rich, although relatively short, mining history.   From the late 1880’s through the early years of the twentieth century hundreds of prospectors flocked to the mountain on numerous occasions to stake their claims upon hearing of a rich new strike.   Throughout this period attempts were made to mine silver, gold, coper, galena and asbestos; and although early reports of various mining ventures indicated rich reserves on Casper Mountain the result for most of the  miners was disappointing.  In reading about mining on Casper Mountain two of the mining claim names stood out as wonderful names for the two master bedrooms at the then under construction Sunburst Lodge B&B.  Those names were the Morning Dew mining claim and the Evening Star mining claim.  The other rooms then had to also be named after Casper Mountain mining claims, hence the rather strange names of some of our rooms.  They are all named after historic mining claims on Casper Mountain, and yes there really was a Yukon and a Klondyke claim on Casper Mountain.  Perhaps those prospectors had already
